Elon Musk, Chief Executive (CEO) of the Tesla vehicle manufacturer, said on Wednesday that the company was still working through “many challenges” to launch its cars in India.

Musk responded Twitter users who asked for updates to the launch.

“Further updates about when Tesla will be launched in India? They are quite extraordinary and deserve to be in every corner of the world!” Twitter user said, sharing a photo of the Tesla model.

Musk said in response: “Still working on many challenges with the government.”

In August, the electric vehicle giant has received approval for four models of Indian testing agents.

Approval does not signify the launch immediately. Tesla has been looking for a decrease in import duties in India. The company hopes to put a lower price label on its car, which is the opposite it is impossible because of high import duties.

A month after approval, Tesla has received a request to reduce import taxes to the Prime Minister’s office, according to Reuters.

Local players opposed Tesla’s request to cut the task, on the grounds that the move would hurt investment in household manufacturing, the news agency reported.

In India, 100% import duties are imposed on electric vehicles which cost more than $ 40,000 and 60% in vehicles for $ 40,000 or less. Because of his duties, Tesla’s car could prove to be too expensive for Indian buyers.
