New Delhi: Railtel Corp has decided to make edge data centers in 102 locations in rural and semi-urban areas to accelerate the rate of digital transformation and efficient digital shipping.
The estimated project cost is essential ₹ 500 and will be carried out under the PPP model. The initial capacity of the data center proposed in each location is 20 shelves (5 kW each to 10 kW).
Railtel has around 9300-plus attendance points (pops) and extensive fiber connectivity of optical fiber along the railway and opposite the premise of the Indian train. This makes basic infrastructure available for data center settings.
Railtel will be responsible for providing telecommunication / internet connectivity to selected business partners.
Speaking of projects, chawla puneet, cmd, railtel, said, “With the help of the local data center, rural areas can be presented with low latency applications related to digital skills, financial inclusion, digital literacy, etc. The center date will provide a more experience Both and the help of digital service adoption by the population of these areas, contributing to the digital economy. “
This data center will allow the railtel to deploy IT infrastructure to ‘caching’ popular content to improve the experience of broadband railwire customers. Likewise, IT infrastructure to ‘peek’ with content players can also be deployed in these centers, which will increase economic costs for content delivery (eg youtube, hotstar etc.)
Railtel has a customer base of around 4.4 lakh and is expected to increase sharply with the data center settings. Railtel has two USA USA certified data centers, in Gurugram and Secunderabad.
